Cashew Nuts are the delicious and nutritious seeds obtained from the cashew apples of cashew trees. They are largely grown in tropical countries including India, Brazil, Nigeria, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam and belonged to Anacardiaceae family. The true fruits of this plant are drupes growing at the end of cashew apples and  covered by a double shell made of toxic substances like phenolic resin, anacardic acid and urushiol. The shells will be removed by roasting to get edible part called Cashew nuts.

Cashew Nuts are enriched with protein, dietary fiber and mono unsaturated fatty acids such as oleic and palmitoleic acids. This type of fatty acids will decrease the level of bad LDL cholesterol and increase good HDL cholesterol level in our blood. This phenomena will maintain good health of blood vessels and avoid heart diseases including heart attack. The brain stroke and other brain related diseases can be prevented by eating cashew nuts.


They are good source for vitamins like thiamine, pyridoxine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, Vitamin C and Vitamin E that are required for maintaining good health. Vitamin E is a fat soluble antioxidant that nourishes body skin and also prevents body cells from getting oxidised during metabolism. Reduce the risk of getting cancers as they contain  dietary fiber and antioxidant vitamins.
