New research on Arctic ocean has revealed the fact that there would be no ice by the year 2040.
Since three decades Arctic ocean has undergone rapid change with the fast melting of snow lying on the water surface. Though scientists had already predicted that there would be no single piece of ice in that sea by 2070, the ever increasing melting rate of ice there has ensured that it would be completely ice free sea by 2040 itself.

The Effects of Melting Ice in Artic Region
Could you imagine what would be the effects of such fast melting rate of snow in Artic region? But, results have been already seen in various parts of the world. Scientists warn that melting glaciers flowing in Artic region will have great impact on the global temperatures. Ocean currents are being currently affected and that result into monsoon failure in many parts of the world. Defecient rainfall particularly in tropical countries adversely affects the agriculture and wealth also.
The Melting Rate Has Been Doubled
According to scientists, emission of CO2, SO2, and CO from vehicles and factories can be the main reason for that gradual increase in the melting of ice in Arctic sea and also the global temperature. Recent researches done in that region has confirmed that melting rate has been doubled. The loss of snow covered area in Arctic region per year between 1976 and 1996 was just 8,300 sq.miles, but, now it has turned to 19,500 sq.miles. This increased rate of melting will have also impact on sea level. Scientists have warned, " Many coastal cities will be invaded by sea water in near future". And this has made many nature lovers sad.
